As far as a local sound being co-opted by certain tastemaker DJs and introduced to a national/international audience as the new hip shit to throw in your sets...?

Wait and see...

And his remix probably got a lot of people bringin the bounce sound back to their sets, if they ever played it, which I know we did in Houston.

Yeah. A lot of Bounce or Bounce-related stuff was already actually pretty popular in hip-hop club scenes several years ago. Both No Limit and Cash Money had Bounce or Bounce-related hits that were huge in clubs in the late 90s and early 00s. Certainly, a Mad Decent podcast and a New Orleans Bounce remix on a Mad Decent digital release is a way of exposing the sound to a lot of different types of non-hiphop (and probably mostly white folks), but hopefully that'll be a good thing and get these artists some exposure outside of the NO.

The text of my podcast is currently all messed up, but I wrote a pretty extensive description of a lot of the tracks with links to the artists' myspaces as an effort to put people onto that real ish. Hopefully, the text on the podcast page will be updated soon. Until then, you can peep it on the blog HERE.

bounce is fucking dope. Shit man wait til july Emil is gonna drop some at Face Down. A friend of mine trying to see about us bringing Jubilee to SF; show these dumbass ravers how to do some dances.

I wish I had recorded one of the old damage controls when some dude dropped a gang of old school bounce I'd never heard. I thought it was Rhino but I'm not sure.

didnt realize this podcast is out! definitely gonna listen to this asap. little disappointed that "whatchya gonna do" track isnt in the track list tho. the horns on that are fucking awesome.

i was actually bothering joe about that tune a while back about where they sampled the horns from. dirty dozen brass band if im not mistaken. their shit is a lot of fun to listen to. would love to hear that incorporated with some house music somehow...cause i like to rave of course.

It's actually a sample from the Rebirth Brass Band but close enough. The Ricky B "Y'All Holler" track rocks the same horns. I play that song out ALL the time.

The Podcast is 85% new stuff with a focus on the Blackhouse Entertainment dudes (edit:... and dudettes!).

"these DJs" don't exist. this reminds me of a thread a year ago talking about go-go being the new baltimore club.

so, are you saying that the whole premise that this thread is based on is untrue? are "tastemaker djs" not playing this stuff or are "tastemakers" different from "these djs"?

Can't compare the two.

Bounce is nothing new in these parts. Love to see the dances as well. I see you JD...

One thing, playing it outside of the Texas can be tough.

Saw Ayres drop some when we rolled to Boston a couple years and it went off though...
